Dr. Salvatore Lacagnina, D.O., is the vice president of Health and Wellness for Lee Memorial Health System in Fort Myers, Florida.
In this role, his mission is to motivate, educate and empower people to improve their health and wellness. He currently is responsible for developing a comprehensive employee health and wellness program for more than 10,500 employees in the system. He is also medical director for Lee Memorial Health System Wellness Centers and medical director of Employee Health Services.
Previously, he was in an internal medicine practice with Lee Physician Group and was the medical director for Lee Physician Group until 2010. His emphasis was on prevention and wellness, disease management, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and risk factor reduction.
Dr. Lacagnina earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, and he is board certified in internal medicine.
Dr. Sal writes a weekly column about health and wellness in The News-Press and a monthly column for the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce Trends publication.
