Nilofer Couture, MPH, R.D., LDN, CDE, is the Clinical Nutrition Manager at Cherokee Indian Hospital in Cherokee, N.C.
She has worked at Cherokee since 2003 and developed and provided group nutrition education classes for Second Winds (smoking cessation program), the cardiac rehab program, and the Women’s Wellness Program, as well as diabetes, weight-management, and nutrition programs for other tribal agencies.
Prior to her work at Cherokee she has served as a consultant dietitian and nutritionist in Western North Carolina and in Durham. She was the state co-chair for NC Action for Healthy Kids (NCAFHK) from 2009-16 and served several times as president of the Western Dietetic Association.
Couture earned a Masters of Public Health in Nutrition from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Michigan. She completed her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital.
