Adam J. Zolotor, M.D., DrPH, is President and CEO of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and associate professor of Family Medicine in at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He also serves as the Associate Medical Director of the North Carolina Child Medical Evaluation Program.
Dr. Zolotor brings to the NCIOM 15 years of clinical practice experience including in small-town practice, rural emergency department, county health department, and academic medical center. Dr. Zolotor has been involved in health services research for more than 12 years and has authored more than 75 book chapters, articles, and major reports.
Dr. Zolotor earned both his master’s degree and doctorate in public health, as well as his medical degree, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His undergraduate degree and residency training were at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Zolotor has served the NCIOM since 2012 and provided leadership in the institute’s Rural Health Action Plan, Patient and Family Engagement Task Force, Essentials for Childhood Task Force, and Alzheimer’s State Plan, among other areas. In addition, as co-publisher of the North Carolina Medical Journal, he has helped to develop a robust electronic platform and increased the reach of the Journal through broad electronic dissemination.
